Unless otherwise advised all our services are charged at our hourly rate of £325 plus VAT (currently 20%) (“hourly rate”). Mileage is charged @ 60p per mile by car.

All work is carried out on that basis by a qualified solicitor with over 47 years` legal experience.

Residential Conveyancing services (deducing title, reporting on known issues, drafting contracts and transfers and administering receipts and payments etc) are charged at our hourly rate of £325 plus VAT (currently 20%). Charges may typically range from £500 to £1500 plus VAT (currently 20%) and we do not act for buyers requiring mortgage facilities. Leases tend to be at the higher range. We do act for sellers wishing to discharge mortgages. Land Registry and search costs are always in addition and these costs will be at the Land Registry and search facility published prices on request and in advance of being incurred.

Wills (drafting and signing in attendance) are likely to cost £450 plus VAT (currently 20%) for straightforward cases again at our hourly rate of £325 plus VAT (currently 20%). Lasting Powers of Attorney (drafting and signing in attendance) £600 plus VAT (currently 20%) plus registration fees at our hourly rate of £325 plus VAT (currently 20%). All other Probate services are charged at the usual hourly rate and depend on their complexity, but the range of costs could be from a straightforward letter of advice for £750 plus VAT (currently 20%) to £25,000 or more. The Services include the obtaining of probate after accounting to HMRC for inheritance tax and thereafter, distributions to beneficiaries. Timescales range from 6 to 24 months.

In Employment and Debt Recovery cases our normal hourly rate applies.

Employment case costs depend on their complexity, but the range of costs could be from a straightforward letter of advice for £450 plus VAT (currently 20%) to £25,000 plus VAT (currently 20%) or more. The Services include the drafting and responses to any claim, drafting witness statements and advocacy in the Employment Tribunal. Timescales are dependent upon Tribunal availability but can be 6 to 24 months. Wherever possible, invoicing will be not less than once every two months in order that you will be able to understand your costs as you incur them and predict with a reasonable degree of certainty, where they are heading. Mileage is charged @ 60p per mile by car plus VAT (currently 20%). There are no other known disbursements but if any become relevant, we will notify you in advance.

Debt Recovery case costs depend on complexity, whether proceedings are necessary and whether a defence/counterclaim is received. With that in mind the range of costs could be from a straightforward letter of claim or advice for £325 to £50,000 or more plus VAT (currently 20%) and Court fees. The Services include the drafting and responses to any letter or claim, drafting witness statements and advocacy in the County Court or High Court. Timescales again can be 6 to 24 months. Court fees can range from £300 to £10,000 (no VAT) depending upon the amount involved. Wherever possible, invoicing will be not less than once every two months in order that you will be able to understand your costs as you incur them and predict with a reasonable degree of certainty, where they are heading. Mileage is charged @ 60p per mile by car plus VAT (currently 20%).
In no case is there any passing onto junior or untrained staff causing additional administrative costs and unnecessary delays. All work is carried out by the Principal, with 28 years post qualification experience as a solicitor and 47 years as a barrister.
